ORDINANCE 06-86
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY OF LAKELAND TO AMEND THE ZONING CLASSIFICATION OF ALL PARCELS LOCATED AS DESCRIBED HEREIN (lo1-40-00280; lO1-40-00248; LO1-40-00066; LO1-40-00067), FROM AG (AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT), TO I-L (LIGHT INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT); PROVIDE AN EFFECTIVE DATE.


WHEREAS, the City of Lakeland initiated a request to rezone approximately 211.43 acres of land as depicted and described herein, from AG, Agricultural District, to I- L, Light Industrial District; and

WHEREAS, the 2006 update to the Land Use Plan for the City of Lakeland depicts the subject property as being located within an area recommended for “Light Industrial” , and

WHEREAS, other lands, currently zoned light industrial now abut or have been encroached upon by residential development, and

WHEREAS, the Lakeland Planning Commission reviewed the proposed change in zoning classification on February 21, 2006, and made a recommendation to the Board of Commissioners to amend the Official Zoning Map of the City of Lakeland accordingly, and

WHEREAS, a Public Hearing before the Board of Commissioners for the City of Lakeland was held on March 27, 2006, pursuant to a notice thereof published in a newspaper of general circulation within the community on March 08, 2006.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE CITY OF LAKELAND, TENNESSEE, AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. That the City of Lakeland Official Zoning Map be amended to change the zoning classification of the land described herein, from AG, Agricultural District, to I-L, Light Industrial District.

Section 2. Be it further ordained that this Ordinance shall take effect immediately after its passage on final reading, the public health, safety and welfare so requiring it.

First Reading: March 02, 2006.

Public Hearing: March 27, 2006.

Final Reading: April 06, 2006.
